Synopsis

FLGFF is delighted to present the South Florida premiere of Who’s Afraid of Vagina Wolf? (shown as a work-in-progress at MGLFF 2013), a comedic, semi-autobiographical examination of one-woman’s mid-life crisis, the day after her fortieth birthday. Anna, a Cuban-American filmmaker (played by the director,) has sacrificed her love life for her film career, and now doesn’t have either. It’s time to spring into action if she wants to get a girl and make the film that will change her life, forever. Eager to win the affection of sultry, kissable Katia, Anna comes up with a plan to write a lesbian remake of Edward Albee's cult classic, "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf," with Katia in the lead. Though Anna’s best friends, Chloe (Carrie Preston, “True Blood”) and Penelope (Guinevere Turner, Go Fish, Owls) are willing to help, it’s on the understanding that Penelope can channel Martha, the role Elizabeth Taylor originally played. With cast and crew in place - including Julia, a sweet Texan cinematographer - production commences and along with it a tidal wave of lesbo-drama! Winner of two major summer awards: “Best Actress Award - Guinevere Turner” (Outfest13), and “Audience Award for Best Comedy” (QFest13), Who’s Afraid of Vagina Wolf? is the funniest lesbian film you’ll see this year.
